Finished remaining 426 3-4 rivets using hand squeezer. Used an allowed MK-319BS pop rivet on the last lower hole on the bottom of the rudder. Also completed in this process was the riveting of the lower rudder cap attach strip to the lower rudder rib. Utilized CS4-4 pop rivets for the 4 holes that attach the skin to the rib and rudder horn brace. Again work smarter not harder. I took a look at trying to squeeze these with flush rivets but it's just not worth the headache to me. I'm not building a Lindy winner, just want a solid airplane sooner than later. A couple of the stems from the CS4-4 rivets did not break off cleanly. So after some quick research in the Van's chapter 5 guide learned that it is acceptable to grind these smooth so I just used a basic file to accomplish this.
Spent the rest of the time double checking my work. A bit nervous as my next step is off to see the EAA Tech Counselor for my first inspection. Just a few questionable rivets out of this whole side so I will see what the tech counselor has to say about them.
Actually looking like a finished part.
